Hundreds of millions of years ago, volcanic eruptions spewed out larva around the world. This larva cooled to form basalt rock deposits in gigantic quantities.
This geological mineral is mined to help build roads and tunnels. However, Basalt has been used by farming communities for thousands of years to act as a natural soil enhancer.
CO2 naturally reacts with metal oxides found in geological rock, including Basalt, to form insoluble carbonates. However this process usually takes millions of years!
Scientists have recently discovered basalt can be finely ground up to accelerate this process. The dust can then be spread on farmland to capture CO2 to form limestone (chalk).
Using our scientific skillsets, we have developed a range of Volcanic products which capture atmospheric CO2 and also improve gardens and house plants for consumers and businesses. See our shop for our products.
